The term nut flush draw means a flush draw to the nut flush. While the term nut flush should ideally be used to describe a flush only when it’s the nuts, it is often used to describe any Ace-high flush. As such, a player with an Ace-high flush draw might describe themselves as having the nut flush draw despite the board texture being paired (and therefore they are not technically drawing to the nuts).
To shove in poker means to bet or raise all-in. It is used interchangeably with poker terms such as ‘push’ and ‘jam’. The term is naturally most popular in games with a no limit betting structure because players have the option of going all-in at any time.
An inside straight draw is a type of straight draw, more commonly referred to as an open ended straight draw. We make an inside straight draw when we have four cards in rank order, allowing us to complete a straight at either end. For example, we hold 6789 in our hand and can make a straight either by hitting the Five or Ten.
Domination means that a hand or range is weaker than another hand or range. The term dominated also refers specially to types of hands that are likely to suffer from domination issues. In Hold’em, this includes hands like top-pair weak kicker, baby flushes (especially on paired textures), and the low end of the straight (especially if the flush is possible or the board is paired). We have to be careful in these situations because it ends up being likely that “our opponent has us dominated”.
Deuce is simply a nickname given to a card with the rank of Two. It’s not especially important from a strategic point of view, but we might find ourselves lost in poker conversations if we don’t know that the two is sometimes referred to as the Deuce.
