Explanation of Trips
Trips is a common colloquial term used to describe three of a kind in poker. Although it could technically be used to describe any situation when we hold three cards of the same rank, it is primarily used to describe situations where we do not make our three of a kind using a pocket pair in Hold’em. Making three of a kind using a pocket pair is instead referred to as making a set.
Example of Trips used in a sentence -> A set is usually stronger than trips since a set is more disguised and hence more likely to get paid off.
