Explanation of Turn
The term “turn” refers to the fourth community card that is dealt as well as being the name assigned to the third round of betting in Hold’em and Omaha variants (the second betting round being referred to as the “flop”).
Example of Turn being used in a sentence -> We didn’t flop especially well but we did manage to pick up a flush draw on the turn.
How to Use Turn as Part of Your Poker Strategy
Good play on the turn requires players to think ahead regarding how their hand will play on the river. Good improvement potential is one of the key criteria for deciding whether a hand should continue past the turn. For example, it usually won’t be necessary to bluff the turn unless we have some sort of direct drawing hand. Zero-equity holdings with no improvement potential can typically be discarded on the turn barring some sort of specific read on our opponent.
