Explanation of Community Cards
Some variants of poker utilize community cards, others don’t. The most popular variant of poker (No Limit Hold’em) uses community cards (the flop, turn and river). This also true of Omaha, along with its variants such as Omaha-8 and 5-card Omaha.
Examples of games that don’t include community cards include drawing games such as 5-card draw, 2-7 triple-draw and Badugi.
Stud games (including razz) don’t use community cards for the most part, although occasionally seventh street will be dealt as a community card if there are not enough cards left in the deck for every player to be dealt a seventh street card individually.
